Dates & Structure

13-22 July inclusive (i.e. arriving July 12 and departing July 23)

The class in Estonia is a part of the PLMF summer academy programme which provides training opportunities for string players - who in turn provide training opportunities for conductors by playing in hte orchestra.

The fact that the orchestra is not available full-time means that this course is less intensive than Radom. It is slightly longer and so the actual time with the orchestra is about the same but conducting only once a day makes active participation less pressured.

The daily routine is a morning orchestra session from 10.00-13.00, the afternoon being devoted to classroom discussion, video analysis and preparation of work for the following day.

Given that this is a training orchestra, rather than focusing solely on the individual conductor, techniques for developing orchestral sound and response are considered more actively, making this course particularly suitable for those wishing to hone their skills in these areas.
